Teaching Chinese as A Second Language Top-Up Program for International Students

Objective:

This major aims to cultivate international students to proficiently use Chinese for oral and written expression, together with a solid theoretical knowledge of general linguistics and Chinese language and literature, basic theories and methods of international Chinese language teaching,  good literary and cultural literacy. The range of career options open to graduates is Chinese language teaching and research, as well as cultural exchange between China and foreign countries,focusing on cultural literacy, Chinese language ability and Second language teaching.

Graduation Requirements:

1.Fluent Chinese expression ability, proficient in Chinese listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation.

2. Alongside the language(s), there’s a wide range of topics on offer including history, literature, religion, anthropology, linguistics and etc.

3.Basic knowledge of economy and trade.

4.Computer skills.

5.Proficient in Chinese language teaching practice and excellent cross-cultural communication skills, be able to apply professional knowledge and theories to practice effectively.

6. Master the basic knowledge and theories required by this major, and meet the requirements of the basic literacy and abilities of the Standards of Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.

Program Features:

1. Combination between knowledge learning and practical learning

Knowledge learning:professional theories and skills in classroom, practical learning: classroom practice and extracurricular practice.

2. Professional tutors

Guidance will be provided for students' theoretical knowledge learning and thesis writing, etc., and to expand students' practical learning and enhance students' professional awareness and literacy.

The two-way selection method is adopted, which combines students' willingness and the tutors’ selection.The tutor arrangement will be determined after the agreement between the two sides and the approval of the college.

Special Instructions:

To graduate, students must pass the new HSK 6 test or have a 3.0 GPA in core courses.

Scholarship
